The situation in El Rodeo prison has been extremely dangerous lately and people still do not actually know what is exactly happening there. Families from the prisoners do not even know if their relative is alive or not..
What do you think is the situation there and what would you do to change this awful situation?
Here I let you with an article I found from the BBC news about this jail.

Venezuela prison stand-off: El Rodeo inmates moved
Officials say most of the prison is back under their controlThe Venezuelan authorities have transferred 2,500 prisoners from a jail near Caracas as they seek to reassert control there.
On Friday, troops took over most of El Rodeo jail in Guatire, after a riot between rival gangs of prisoners a week ago left some 20 people dead.
But a stand-off continues in one prison wing, after attempts to negotiate with a group of armed inmates failed.
The interior minister said some 50 prisoners were refusing to disarm.
Relatives react to the evacuation of inmates from El Rodeo jailIn the meantime, the authorities have sought to deal with the prisoners from the part of El Rodeo they already control.
In the early morning of Sunday, they began transferring some 2,500 inmates by bus to a number of other prisons in the country.
They planned to move the remaining 1,000 inmates later in the day.
Officials say the measure is temporary, designed to protect the fundamental rights of the prisoners.
'Short circuit' fireMany of the inmates' relatives, however, remain highly anxious about a situation that is still very volatile.
Two members of the security forces and at least one prisoner were killed in clashes inside the jail when the security operation started on Friday.
Hundreds of relatives have gathered outside the jail, where they have clashed with security forces in recent days.
Some of them watched with great alarm as a fire broke out in part of the prison before dawn on Sunday.
The Venezuelan authorities denied that they had started the fire deliberately.
A senior government official, Nestor Reverol, said the blaze - which has since been put out - had been caused by an electrical short circuit and that no-one had been hurt.
Waiting gameAttempts to end the stand-off inside part of El Rodeo have so far failed.
On Saturday, Interior Minister Tareck el-Aissimi said the leaders of a group of inmates - whom he called "hostile" and "negative" - had been using their weapons to exert control over more than 1,000 fellow inmates in that area of the jail.
Mr Aissami told the state television channel, VTV, that the leaders were demanding that government troops - who number some 4,000 - pull out of the jail.
And he said the men would not permit a search of the part of the prison they controlled.
The authorities have been trying to implement a crackdown on guns within the jail, and have so far confiscated a number of firearms and a quantity of drugs.
But Mr Aissami said he was prepared to play a waiting game.
"We'll last out for as long as it takes," he said.
"Time is not on their side. We're on our guard, waiting for them to hand over their weapons."

its just a simple corruption problem thet affect all venezuelan people.
This situation is so awful, today I could see a new about this! and really each family of the prisioners are so mad and sad!! It's so sad for them to know that their brothers, sisters, husbands (I don't know), be in this place without any knowledge if they are still alive or not! I could see a woman that said: "I would be willing to death but I'll fight with those men for my family" Wow! and really, that's a worry situation! In fact, I have an uncle that is in prison, but not there, (thanks to God), he is in Valencia since three years ago and his wife every Sunday goes to visit him, and she said: "be in that place is depressing". We pray to nothing as this horrible situation in El Rodeo happen there! and I think that If I could do something for this, I wouldn't think about it and I would do it!! and everything to do justice!

ResponderEliminarI think that the reason for those problems in the rodeo’s prison is because the prisoners need better establishment, better food, maybe more clothes and the most important thing, a good relationship between then and with the police.
The prisoners are annoying because guards sometimes are very wicked with them and they react against guards and in that case I think they have reason because everyone has the right to live comfortable and eat three times a day and obviously if you were in an abuse situation you would fight for your rights.
The problem is that violence brings violence and when they are hit or attacked or beaten by the police they react aggressively.
The solution can be talk, negotiate without aggression and seek peace. Treat prisoners as people do not like animals punish those guilty of anarchy
I think that the situation in jails are very complicated and It's not only a problem of venezuelan jails, It's a situation spread among latin american jails and even spanish jails. The issue is so profound, deep and complicated that if I were the president, I'd create a special crew to humanize from the root the prisoners. How? with sport workshops, music, artistic activities such as painting, dancing, cooking or labor activities like carpentry, tailor work, and others. Sometimes this could seem a little bit idyllic or utopian but if the goverment tried this with guts it'd be possible to get some positive results. I know about a prisoner's orchestra and chorus but I don't think this was implemented in El Rodeo, and I'm not sure of the results in other jails, I hope this awful situation will be over soon, for the well being of everyone. For sure we don't know exactly what is happening inside, obviously it's a war, too much corruption and fighting for power, this is consequence of a broke system.
ResponderEliminarEven though this could be considered quite a sad story (because it is), those men are receiving what they have given to society. They demand rights as humans, but they have forgotten that they also had some duties which they did not follow nor respected.
ResponderEliminarThey began a riot, they refused to disarm and they still want justice to be done? People only look for their rights only when they need them and I think, even though they're as much person as I am, that this could be a lesson for them, maybe what's happening will change the point of view of at least an inmate and I hope that they think about what they did to other people and check if that was worth the ugly time they are going through.
Jails shouldn't be made to punish criminals, they should be done with the only purpose of helping a person to get back to society so they could give back what they took away in a certain way.
I belive this is a really sad and awful situation and it can also being considered as a masacre. It's sad that this people have to spend years in a prision but it's also sad for their families find out that their relatives are dead or with really bad injuries. But we have to realise that this problem it's not a problem only in our country, this has happened in several jails in latin america and the U.S.A. but in the jails there is a lot of corruption why? beacuse how can you explain that they have weapons in their cell? this behavior is actually kind of sad, beacuse this people are human beings and they have been punished because of their bad actions bad they wont change unless they receive a decent education. this action will not stop if we put the prisioners in different jails. this actions will stop if we chage the thoughtof the people. I can't imagine the situation inside the jail but I don't justify the actions the they are making.
ResponderEliminarWell, I think that the situation in Venezuelan prisons in general is critical and awful, it's amazing that prisoners have the possibility of having a cell phone and different electronic devices for use themselves, I think there is much corruption in people working within the prison to care for prisoners. I think the national government should take action and improve the system to give better quality of life for these people, and for an end of corruption in that system.
ResponderEliminarthe situation in the rodeo is very dangerous and unfortunate as these prisoners suffer like his family. My opinion about this situation is that it should implement a plan for these high security prisoners and prisoners do not allow these illegal items like drugs are alcohol, firearms, among others. That Being a prison should not be allowed such things these days have been many clashes with the national guards and prisoners on Sunday moved two thousand prisoners to other jails. Prisoners die another day attacks by the national guard or attack by another flag..or is not fair in Venezuela may have to live this is prison system which can’t guarantee the right to life, this is all she gets a good system audits to each jail and a good policy reintegration into society, all the directors of all the prison of Venezuela for traffic to be charged substances and drugs, weapons trafficking embezzlement administrative corruption, abuse of proses delay undue delay, physical abuse, human rights violations, murder in degree of cooperation immediate, necessary accomplices and complications necessary in other, as criminals, with the same yardstick should be measured at officials from the national guard to junior officers, trustees and employees administrative default as of day by day living these criminal illegal, nothing but also not force but to all who have been in the last fifteen years is when crisis deepens prison in the country because they are guilty of the true facts are that these are happening.
